There are 2 or 3 fair sized hotels & now being used as HQ's by the military. Some fine big buildings are now being used as Hospitals for our & Turkish & German wounded.
The waterfront presents a very busy scene as yesterday 5 cargo steamers came in & are landing large quantities of supplies by means of lighters.
A big Hospital ship came in yesterday, filled up during the day & sailed this morning just after daybreak having emptied the clearing stations here. The sick & wounded were taken out on big lighters to the ship which was anchored out about a ¼ of a mile.
There are any amount of religious institutions in the town & this morning I went to mass 0615 at a German Convent.
The bay is an excellent swimming place & one can go out as far as desired in quiet water.
Oct 15th
This morning I spent in looking over the Carmelite Monastery of Elijah on the point of the mount. This is a fine building & contains some dozens of rooms. Prior to our occupation it was used as a German HQ's, the monks
