July 15th

We have been expecting a Turkish attack now for the last week or so but as yet it has not eventuated. They are expecting gas this time & have taken all precautions against it. We have even overhauled our gas masks in case they may be necessary.

A Hun came over some days ago for the Balloon but was driven off by the anties. He evidently hoped to get in unobserved as he had rings on his lower planes which is contrary to all principles of the Hague Convention & if he was brought down could be shot as a spy.

This act was futile as he could not conceal the fact his machine was much different in appearance to ours & his engine was more powerful or at least made a much greater noise than our Scouts.

Our people have been taking great care of the balloon lately & pull it down immediately
