bend you are in the city. We went straight through to Bethlehem about 6 miles south of the city as we would just have time to visit it & get back to the city for dinner.
At Bethlehem, which turned out to be bigger than I expected, the main thing of consequence is the Church of the Nativity, being as its name indicates, the birth place of Christ. The church has three parts, the Greek Othordox, Armenian & Catholic. We saw the manger & the place where the star leading the wise men stoppedover.
From near by we could see across the hills & the Jordan Valley, the Hills of Moab rising in the distance. Could not see into the valley however or the Dead Sea as they are down between the two lots of hills.
On the road out is a private residence of palatial dimensions which cost nearly £20,000 to build. Also on way out passed the Solomon's Pool at which Solomon was supposed to have been crowned King of Judea.
Returning to the City we dispersed for lunch arranging to meet at 2.30 near the Fast [?] Hotel
