Dec 4th
Arrived at Sqdn yesterday morning at Ramleh. We are the only remaining Sqdn up here now & I don't expect that we shall be here very long.
Sunday Dec 8th
It has been raining continuously now for 2 days & the camp is just like a quagmire. The camp is not pitched on high enough ground & consequently the water cannot get away quick enough. Everywhere one goes the mud is inches deep but fortunately it is not very sticky.
Some of the showers have been extremely heavy, once or twice accompanied by hailstones & I reckon we must have had at least 8" of rain up to the present. Tis so miserable here, nowhere to go & all we can do is lay in our tents all day & read or sleep.
Luckily our tent keeps the rain out very well but even so everything is so damp.
We were to have gone to Jerusalem yesterday, but the rain prevented it & it may be a week or more bre [?] we can get up there.
