BURNETT AND WIDE BAY DISTRICT

MR MORTS CIRCULAR  1st NOVEMBER 1849 -

The wool market opened gloomily in November the accounts of the London Wool Sales being most discouraging. Many of the the large buyers of previous years did not enter the Market; and prices Commenced at

                  eleven pence for choice Clips
Nine pence to ten pence for good
Seven pence to nine pence for              ordinary

Until the beginning of January even these low rates had rather a downward tendency at which period they reached their lowest point & many Clips being ready were difficult of sale

For tallow the best beef obtained £26 to £26.10/-

For Mutton the best         ''       ''   £27 to £27.10/-

STOCK & STATIONS

The prices of Stock & Stations have, of Course, participated in the depression of the Wool Market - In the early part of the year 3/6d to 4/- as the highest price [indecipherable] for good sheep with good stations were 15/- to 20/- for Cattle with superior runs
Recently 5/- to 6/6 has been obtained for first class sheep with Stations, desirable from the fleece now ready for shearing.

Mr MORTS CIRCULAR     1st NOVEMBER 1850

The prices of Stock & Stations are about the same as those ruling at the close of last year, but few first class runs have recently been brought into the market - There are plenty of buyers for
real good properties.
