DATE OF THE ESTBLISHMENT OF POST OFFICES
TO DRAYTON IN DARLING & GAYNDAH ON BURNETT RIVER
In the year 1838 a post office was established at Musswell Brook on Hunter river and also at the Township of Scone. In 1840 the mail run to Murrurundi on Page river & within two miles of the Liverpool range, this year the mail was run to Tamworth on Peel river seventy miles beyond the boundary of Western
In 1842 a post office was established at Armadale in New England this mail came from Port Macquarie once a week
In 1844 a Mail was established between Maitland to Armadale performing the distance in four days
In 1846 the Settlers on Bendy Plains & the northern part of New England had their letters forwarded to Wellinggrove
In 1847 Post Offices were established between Armadale & Drayton in Darling Downs at Tenterfield & at Drayton & to Brisbane passing through Ipswitch these mails were forwarded on horseback once a fortnight
In January 1850 a post office was established at Gayndah on Burnett river & also at Maryborough & the overland mails were forwarded from Sydney by Armadale 7 Drayton to Gayundah & Marybotough a distance by land of seven hundred & ninety two miles
In 1854 The overland mail passes on from Gayndah to Gladstone at Port Curtis
