SITES FOR NEW VILLAGES 1855
Sites have been fixed upon for new Villages in the District of Moreton at the under[indecipherable] places Viz in the County of Churchill
Gatton on Lochyers Creek
and Alfred at Owens Inn on Bremer River
GLASSHOUSE MOUNTAINS
These mountains are situated in this district. The glasshouses lie in latitude 26' 53" South a little way inland and not far from each other, and are remarkable for the singular form of their elevation, which resembles a glasshouse, for this reason Captain Cook named these mountains the Glasshouses.
