MARBLE LIMESTONE FREESTONE IRONSTONE

IN LIVERPOOL DISTRICT.

Marble is found at Ottleys springs Creek near to Tarpaulin Creek on the Manilla River this marble is reported to be Similar to the marble found in the Mountains found on the Malurundi river,     Quarries of limestone are open & at present worked at Peel River near to  Kilalla-.  Freestone is found at Innar or Enna a station occupied by Captain Russell. Coal is found at Wallingurar within Seven miles of Innar as also limestone. Freestone is found at Ottleys or Cunninghams Creek on Macintyre river.      At Mariaville a town situated in the County of Macquarie on the Matia river, Marble of various colours has been discovered in this neighbourhood, At Mount Macidon thirty miles to the N.W. of Melbourne in Victoria, Quarries of excellent Marble are found there.

THE WARIBA A NATIVE FRUIT ON THE NAMOI RIVER

Wariba trees grow to perfection in various localities in this district they are found growing on many of the Stations of the Settlers on the Namoi River & in great number in the Myall & Briccolo Scrubs betwixt the Namoi & American rivers, the fruit of the wariba is about the size of a Wallnut, the Stone is found in the centre of the fruit in Shape of a musket ball but Smaller in size.       The colour of this fruit is much like that of the English cherry when ripe & having a rough Skin like a peach This fruit eats much like an apple having a pleasant acid taste and Makes an excellent preserve, the Settlers on the Namoi who make use of it prefer to mix the native cherry with the Wariba when they preserve this fruit -

THE PINE TREE, WEEPING OR DROOPING TREES WHITE & WEST INDIA MAHOGANY

on the Sovereign river the Pine tree grows to a great height, the wood is used by the Settlers for many useful purposes, On this river fine Straight trees without a branch for fifty or sixty feet are to be found, the boards cut from one & a half to two feet diameter.

A tree Similar to the Mahogany tree of the West Indies has been found in Various parts of New South Wales, Some pf these trees have been found on the Bulga range of mountains ( a spur of the Liverpool range)       White Mahogany is to found in many parts of liverpool plains district      Weeping or drooping trees are to be found in every Northern district
