GOVERNMENT LICENCE FOR A STATION &
CHARGE ON STOCK
ASSESMENT [ASSESSMENT] FOR ONE YEAR OF TWO POUNDS PER THOUSAND SHEEP FOR ONE YEAR FROM 1855 -
A select Committee was appointed by the Legislative Council of New South Wales regarding this assessment, on the 1st of Augt 1854 they reported & recommended that for the effectually suppressing the disease known as Scab in Sheep that is compulsory assessment of two pounds per thousand be placed on Sheep from the 1st of January 1855 to be for one year, & to be Continued for another provided this sum raised be insufficient for the purpose intended, "The bill being for effectually suppressing the disease known as Scab in Sheep, for giving Compensation to the owners of Sheep to be compulsory destroyed under the provisions of this bill, at the rate of four Shillings for each sheep or lamb over Six months of age so destroyed, and for creating a fund for such Compensation by an assessment of one or two years, as Circumstances may require, of two pounds per thousand upon all Sheep and lambs
within the Colony.
