GOVERNMENT LICENSE FOR A STATION & CHARGE ON STOCK
 

ORDER IN COUNCIL 9th MARCH 1847.

Leases are renewable according to a similar assessment. In cases where runs are not so assessed, the extent of the run will be the rule, thus:-  Stations of not greater extent than twenty five square miles or 16,000 acres, will be charged at £10 per annum, and for every additional five square miles, the charge of £2. per annum will be made.

Rent must be paid in advance at the time specified in the lease. If not so paid the lease if forfeited, but recoverable within sixty days of the original rent day, by payment of an additional one fourth of the original rent, as a penalty, together
with the full amount, in default of which the forfeit becomes absolute.
During the lease the land may be offered for sale
only to the lessee, who may purchase any portion of it not less than one hundred & sixty acres, and at a not less price than £1. an acre.  If the purchase be less than three hundred & twenty acres the expense of Survey is to be borne by the purchaser.
Lots sold must be as nearly as possible rectangular, & must not take opposite sides of a river.  No lot should have more than four hundred & forty yards of water frontage for a hundred & sixty acres.  The Governor has power to check any [indecipherable] command over water in the arrangement & sale of lots.
The usual reserves for all public purposes are to
be made. If at any time a railhead be made through or near to the districts comprising unsettled lands, all lands within two miles from such railroad shall be liable to be sold not withstanding any existing lease. But sixty days previous notice must be given to the lessee, & the lessee shall have a right of presumption.
A lease may be forfeited - by non payment of rent - by Causation of felony - less the adjudication within three months, of two or more justices upon any previous Causation by a single justice of any offence against the law.
But such adjudication must be confirmed by the Governor.
