LIVERPOOL PLAINS DISTRICT.

WATERING PLACES ON THE GWYDER OR BIG RIVER ROAD

Water is to be found at Woolham Hall or Attungah on Peel River, & four miles further at Jenkins Cattle Station BREEWAN a Supply is to be had, & ten miles further a Supply is to be had at Browns Springs.      At fifteen miles further the Namoi river is Come upon where water is at all times to be found.

On the Manilla, or Maniella River water is at all times to be met with, at Borro gap, at Tarpaulin Creek, at Durro late uptons, and at Cobrodi, also at Halls Station, and at Bingera the Crossing place of the Gwyder or Big river ------ The next water is to be found at the forks of the road to Warielda & Myall Creek or Tainoga Dangars Station, after which a Continued Supply may be Calculated upon at Short distances

SPECIMENS OF SURFACE COPPER ORE

Specimens of Surface Copper ore are to be picked up at Wenlands ranges near the Liverpool range of Mountains, at Carobobella Mountain & on the lands and ranges of the Mooki River in this district

THE BUDGERRY GAAN PAROQUET.

This beautiful paroquet the Smallest of its class in New South Wales, is nowhere to be found under the Liverpool range of Mountains,    Over the range, and on the Sources of the Namoi, Maniella, & Gwyder rivers this bird is found in great numbers.     The food of this paroquet, are the Seeds found on the box ranges & ridges where it is most frequently to be seen ------ The goolah grass Seed made use of by the Aborigines for food, is also a favourite with this bird, when caged the Canary or hemp Seed is provided ------ This is a very delicate bird Seldom living more than three years domesticated.      This Paroquet is about the size of a Java Sparrow, Considerably Smaller than an English house Sparrow, & excells all others in Speaking distinctly.     The plumage of this paroquet is very beautiful and much admired.
