VICTORIA

BENDIGO MCIVOR, AND GOULBURN

These diggings, so far as regards extracting the gold from the alluvial deposits, appear to be on the move, but Considerable attention is now being directed to the quartz Cresking and if the quartz turns out to be only half as [assiferous?] as is reported the enterprise must be very profitable.

ANDERSONS CREEK AND THE PLENTY RANGES

The former of these was the first place in the Colony where gold was found in any quantity. Lately it has attracted attention, and there are hundreds scattered over the field of the neighbouring Ranges and Creeks. and near the Plenty. The  accounts are remarkably favourable. The localities where gold is found are from sixteen to twenty five miles to the east and north east of Melbourne.

The OVENS AND OMEO

These are situated on or near the Australian Alps, and many persons Consider them the most promising of all our goldfields. It is confidently stated that, on the average of the year, the yield compared to the members at work, is greater than at another gold field, and it is pretty generally believed that the precious metal is diffused over the whole of the ranges.
The Australian Alps gold fields are, however, it must be remembered, what are called "Wet-diggings" which can be worked advantageously only from January to July, and even then they require men (sic) of some Capital and energy, and the combination of strong parties.
