SYDNEY PRICES SEPTR 1849 CONTINUED
HORSES During the month of September 1849 a demand had Sprung up for harness horses for exportation to California and Sales were effected at from 65/. to £14. the average being £9.

The effect of the gold discovery on the 12th of February this year on the price of [Consumable?] articles was immediately apparent. Flour which had ranged from £18 to £20 a ton,in ten days rose to £30. and Subsequently to £40. every available means was resorted to, to forward the Staff of life to the gold diggings, where it was expected to realise, and for a time did realise enormous prices. During the month of June flour fetched £100 per ton at Bathurst, and every other article bore proportionable prices.
In September the price of flour in Sydney was £25 per ton, for first, & £23 for Seconds
In October £23 for fine, & £21 for Seconds.
In November owing to large importations at the time from South America, & which were of an inferior quality, and greatly Complained of at the time, flour fell to £12 for fine, and £10 for Seconds, These importations tended to Keep the Colonial markets in check for a time
In December the price of fine flour in Sydney was £14. & £12 for Seconds.

[CHESEBOROUGH?] STATION DISTRICT OF BURNETT & WIDE BAY
This Station was Sold at Auction in Sydney March 1856 for eight hundred & fifty pounds
STOCK & STATIONS MARCH 1856
Few Sales have been effected and the prices by no means good.
SHEEP MARCH 1856
A few flock of Surplus Sheep have been Sold at prices from 4/6 to 5/6 per head; and one lot of 8000 mixed Sheep for 6/3d. Melbourne buyers are in the Market who will not purchase unless at very low rates. Store Cattle not in demand. Fat Cattle have been in excess of the demand & are now quoted at from 90/ to £9 per head
