Fish Found in Condamine River
The most esteemed fish found in the Condamine are the rock Cod, many of these caught are of a large size & are most delicate eating, they are found in the Creeks & branches within a few miles of the main dividing range, & in such abundance that the shepards & other workmen salt them down for after use.
Coal Found in this District
This district is abundantly supplied with the best discription of Coal this mineral is seen cropping out on Cliftion plains, on Cunning & Darling downs.
Thermometer in the Shade in Sydney. 3rd February 1855 From the Herald
Never in the memory of the "Oldest Inhabitant" was Sydney so hot as during tge last three days of the present week. Moultan, in the dry days was a joke to its, and Moultan they say, is next door to Tartarus. The thermometer in the shade started at 112 degrees, and in the blaze at noon the sun was somewhat to [can't read]. A canopy of red hot brass seemed to glow over the devoted City. The atmosphere was that of a dull dry [terrie case] with scarcely a breath of air.
