WALEROO, KANGAROO, AND ROCK WALLABY AT EIBENOUNTIBA CREEK

Eibenountiba is Situated a few miles to the north of Frasers Creek in Byron plains, & is resorted by the blacks from the quantity of game they obtain in the Mountains & rocks there where the animals are found in great Numbers. When New England was first settled, the whites found the Standing nets of the blacks in many parts of the bush, these were for the purpose of entraping the wild animals, and the tribes met at these places after driving their [g?] before them from a Circle of Many Miles – The nets were made of the bark of the [K?] or Currajong these nets were very Strong. They have long Since been wantonly destroyed by Shepherds Much to the discomfiture of the blacks.

The Parra Mellan a Small animal like the hare, & much prized in Sydney are to be found in great Numbers in the Scrubs at Tantalinna – Since the whites have occupied the Pundarra or Bundarra & Byron plains Country these wild animals have betaken to the Mountains & unfrequented parts where the blacks visit at [?] Seasons –

THE MARCH FLY.

This fly Sometimes Makes his appearance on the range of New England towards latter end of January. In February & March this animal is very troublesome.

This fly is named the forester in England & the Clegg in Scotland –

The March fly of New England is larger than either being twice the size of those found in England or Scotland. He is preserved during winter by a clay cell which he [?]

This fly is More numerous on the range Country and table land than on the plains and downs in Byron or Bundarra on these few or none are to be seen in Some [?]

The blacks abandon the range during the fly Months & retreat to Byron plains & the Bundarra Country – This fly being as they say "too merry Saucy for them

The Stockmen in New England name the March fly in dirision – "The New[?] Stock Keeper"

THE MOUNTAIN AND SMALL GREY FLYING SQUIRREL.

The Skin of the Small grey flying Squirrel is much prized in England, and is much more Valuable then thst of the Mountain Squirrel – In the Bundarra Country and all over Byron plains the Small grey flying Squirrel are every where to be found

Black white and also grey Mountain Squirrels of a large size are to be found on the range of New England.
