The Country about the Peel at Tamworth is Considered the low Country and although the distance is but Short betwixt the Township at Tamworth and the Summet of the Moongay the difference of climate is great & Travellers do well to take with them Suitable warm Clothing in passing into this Country.      The high table land on the Nambuckra or Sea Coast range in the neighbourhood of the Snowy Mountains is Covered with a thick Sward of grass Similar to the grass fields of England.      Grass does not grow in tufts in that part of the Country as it does in most parts of New South Wales.  The settlers who have Stations on the Nambuckra range generally occupy these Stations as Cattle runs, although Sheep are running in that part of the Country and doing well.      The high land of the Nambuckra is Considered to be a very healthy part of the district of New England, on this land during winter the Cold is Severely felt, the Country betwixt the great Northern Cordillera & this range is much broken in many parts particularly under the falls ------ A view of the Pacific Ocean is obtained from two Mountains on this range ------ on the range frosts are Seen in the Month of February & in these elevated parts winter remains for eight months out of the twelve, the native indigo plant grows on this range & is there a bush about three feet high, Sheep & Cattle feed on the leaves of this plant

TheVarious Climates in New England may be attributed to the elevation of the land Benlomond is 5000 feet above the level of the Pacific Ocean the temperature here has been oncerved as low as 13. during winter while under the falls and within thirty five miles of this Mountain during the Same Season the Climate is similar to that of Moreton Bay

The highest Mountain in Scotland or in the British isles is Ben Nevis which measures 4,370 feet. The highest mountain in England is little more than 3000 feet.      The Station at Falconer near Benlomond in New England is 4386 feet above the level of the Pacific Ocean at this elevation good Crops are produced.      At Oban ten miles from Falconer to the eastward at an elevation of 4300 feet not only Crops of wheat Maize & Barley are produced but Cotton plants get into flower.
