The mint price for gold in England in [three?} pounds seventeen shillings  & ten pence half penny per ounce.
The standard for gold coin is 2.2 carats of fine gold & 2 carats of gold and copper melted together.

Between the Wentworth and the Victorian gold, there is a difference in quality amounting to 17 per cent.

In an account of sales 2238 ounces of gold from the colony of Victoria when reduced to standard  
[fineugh?} it yielded eighty-five ounces more than invoice weight which at Pound 3, 17 9 per ounce gives a profit in quality alone, which was not calculated upon by the colonial purchaser, of about 300 pounds.
