DISTRICT OF NEW ENGLAND.

in the management of Sheep in Scotland & who had settled in New England as a Sheep farmer, Numbers of this flock were dying of this disease, and as the flock was a Valuable one & the best of his Sheep, the idia Struck him that by turning the flock into a paddock or enclosed filed of young green wheat he had growing at the head Station, that he would Check the disease, he did So & Succeeded, & thus Saved his Valuable flock,      Sheep Suffer from this disease in the Mountain districts during severe weather in winter, lately instances of Complete Cure being effected on whole flocks by removing them off the range to low Country on the Sea Coast, where the Climate is mild & the frequent Sea Coast Showers ensure at all Seasons a plentiful Supply of herbage & young grass.      Flockmasters would do well to Secure a  Sea Coast Station, or one well Sheltered & warm for their diseased flocks in the interior, to be taken of the range during Severe weather.

The elevation of the Country Situated on the Main dividing range, to the Northward of Armadale increases,    And at Benlomond Mountain one of the highest Northern points the elevation is 5000feet above the sea, from this point the Sheep runs Situated to the Northward are not So elevated ------ The Country Situated to the North of Armadale on the Main dividing range, both on the Sources of the eastern & Western [?] has in many instances in these elevated positions proved unfavourable for Sheep farming. Many of the runs are unsound, producing inferior grass & herbage, from this Cause [?] in Sheep appear in Various forms, Catarrh, also liver disease & foot rot thin the flock and dishearten the flock owner ------ At Tenterfield the Country is Much improved and at Maryland on the borders of Darling downs, the elevation is 2907 feet at Roseinthal in Darling downs 1184 feet above the Sea level.

To the Westward of the main divioing range in Byron plains on the Source of the Macinytre river, the runs are much improved for Sheep farming ------ The Country Situated two degrees to the Westward of the great Northern dividing range has been found unfit for Sheep farming ------ The ranges extending from New England terminate on the Macintyre river within one degree to the Westward of the main range ------ the low Counrty Cattle Stations then Commence, & the Country is there termed unfit for Sheep farming ------ To the eastward of the Main dividing range in Clarence district as also in Moreton, few Sheep runs are to be found equal to the Celebrated runs in Byron plains and Darling downs which are Situated within one degree Westward of these
