Sunday 17 March [1918]
Up at 9.30. Off at 10.30 on O.P. Attacked 9 Albatros but they were utter rabbits – the same old green & yellow ones. Gibbons got one out of control. I attacked three but they all went down spinning & flattened out. Got heavily "archied". Symon's radiator was hit & he crashed in a shell hole at Lesboeufs – unhurt. In evening went to dinner at "Charlie's" in Amiens with the observers who have just got their wings. Had a most thoroughly enjoyable evening. Back to aerodrome at 12 & went to the office to arrange about an O.P. tomorrow but found my leave warrant there for tomorrow!! Great joy! To bed at about 1 a.m. Got a lovely home mail this evening.
