Saturday 29 June [1918]
Up at 9. To aerodrome but it was very "dud" so the C.O. said I could go by the 11.40. Down to billet & changed & caught the 11.40. Got to town about 3.30. Taxi to 5 Marble Arch & found Aunty in. Bryan is down & may have to go to France on Monday. Went to tea at the Troc. with Aunty, Mary, Bry & Maurice. Had my hair cut. Met Major & Mrs. Smith at the Russell & had dinner with them & went to "Yes Uncle" after. He is in great form. He told me that I was recommended for promotion from France. Caught a bus back to 5 Marble Arch & had tea with the family. To bed about midnight.
