Wednesday 10 April [1918]
Up at 7.30. Stood by from 8 a.m., but were not ordered off and later the weather became very "dud". Went up for 20 minutes in the morning on a gun test. Played bridge after lunch with the C.O., Davis & Wells. After tea the C.O., Claye & I went for a walk & had some revolver practice. Played more bridge after dinner. The Huns have pushed again on the Portugese front & got as far as La Goyne. They have also pushed between Ploegsteert and Messines. I hear Armentieres is being evacuated. News is serious as they seem to succeed in their attacks but I wonder what the cost is.
Letter to Aunty Mary.
