Friday 4 January [1918]
Up at 9. A fine frosty day. Went up in formation at 10.20 to 17000. An enormous improvement on yesterday's show. Got a splendid cable from darling Mother & Father about my going to France – they are real bricks! Kept the flight going till 4 p.m. Caught the 4.55 to Kemble & waited there till 5.30. Changed again at Swindon. Eventually got to London about 9. Taxi to the Strand Palace. Found Aunty, Bryan, Maurice, Cicely, Mary & Austin there – quite a grand re-union! Had some supper & to bed.
Cable from Mother & Father.
