Wednesday 10 July [1918]
Up at 9.30 & breakfast in my room. Raining heavily. Tube to Trafalgar Square & walked to Cox's. Then reported to S.E. Area. Interviewed by Col. Jenkins & Major Tweedie who were asked me everything about my career in the R.F.C. They sent me away rather mystified & told me to report again at 2.30. Did some shopping & then went back to lunch with Aunty & Mary. Back to S.E. Area at 2.30 & Major Tweedie told me I am to be made Wing Examining Officer at the wing at Eastchurch. He told me all about it & I will be going there in a few days. Back to Marble Arch & to tea at Selfridges with Aunty & Mary. Caught the 4.45 to Witney. To aerodrome & down to dinner at Mess. Back to office & then to hut.
