Tuesday 12 March [1918]
Up at 9.30. Another fine day with no morning mist. "A" & "C" Flights got badly outnumbered on their patrol & Kennedy & Gill, Fenton & Boyce, Clutterbuck & Sparkes, Ferguson & a Sergeant observer are missing. One went down in flames – apparently it was poor old Clutterbuck. The others who got back shot down four huns but could'nt see if they crashed. Some more of the best gone west, but it is'nt any use getting the wind up. We went up at 3 p.m. for the other offensive patrol. Only had three others with me but we did'nt have any fighting & very little "archie". No news of our missing machines – they were 30 miles over when last seen so all we can hope is that some of them are prisoners.
