Tuesday 16 July [1918]
Up at 9. Went down to Port Meadow in the morning. Flew a Major from the Group to Upper Heyford & back. Took up a Le Rhone Avro for a bit. Back to lunch at the Wing. In afternoon I flew over to Witney. Did several jobs there & had tea. Flew Collier over to Rendcomb. Poor Hewens had just been burnt in a Bristol crash. Changed & had dinner. Went down to Cirencester by tender to the dance. Had a very cheery evening in spite of my rather sick face. Mary & Margaret Vidal were there & I also met Mrs. Cooper. Met Major Davy just back from France where he had a crash. Danced on till 4 a.m.
