Thursday 27 June [1918]
Up at 8.30. To aerodrome & did some dual. Down to station & met Mrs. Vidal on her way to Oxford and took "Girlie" back again. Lunch at the Central Hotel. After lunch went to Tarrant's and packed up my things & got O'Halloran to take them to the Central. I had tea with the Tarrants & then went to the aerodrome. Colonel Martyn came to inspect the station & apparently raised the deuce about the place. He started to "strafe" about my hangar & all the rubbish in it, but I frankly admitted I hadn't given it a thought as so far all my energy had been taken up with getting the machines fit to fly. He was quite decent after that. I did a good deal of dual during the evening. Dinner at the Central. Strolled round to the Marlboro after. To bed fairly early.
