Saturday 16 February [1918]
Up at 9.30. A lovely fine day but very cold. Went up & tested my machine in morning for 25 mins. Engine missing a little. Went up again about 3.30 & flew over Choques & landed at Hesdigneul. Saw old Snow who is very fit & had tea with him. Flew back about 5 p.m. About an hour & a half in the air. Fired a lot at the target.
We start work tomorrow with a Balloon Line Patrol – only a spare machine to be provided by "B" Flight. The Hun bombed Isbeynes again about 6 p.m. To bed about 11. James arrived & is none the worse for his swim in the Channel.
Letter from Aunty Mary.
