Wednesday 25 December [1918]
Up to Midnight Mass & Holy Communion. Back after 1 & to bed late. Got up at 10 for breakfast. Had a very nice lunch & Christmas party. We all loafed in the afternoon & I read an old Baedekker's [Baedeker] Italy – happy memories of 1911! Helen Barlow came to supper & we had a little music after. Altogether a quiet but happy Christmas. It is wonderful to think that this will be the last away from darling Mother & Father & everyone. I'm simply longing for home again.
