Tuesday 24 December [1918]
Up about 10.30. After breakfast went by tube to the Bank & got another parcel of honey. Taxi to Cox's & then met Mary at Les Gobelins where we had lunch. After lunch went off with her shopping & bought a dressing case for her. Went to Fortnum & Mason & actually got a turkey! I went off to the Studebaker Co. but found them shut. Down to Mappin & Webb & other places. Met Mary & Jack D'Apice for tea at Rumplemeyers. After tea went to Fortnum & Masons & collected parcels & then did more shopping. Met Mary at Selfridges about 6.45 & by taxi to Paddington. Arrived home simply laden with countless parcels. To Confession after dinner. About 11 p.m. we had a general opening of presents.
Letter to Margaret.
