Thursday 11 July [1918]
Up at 8. Breakfast & then Roll Call. Another very hard day's work in the office – too "dud" for flying. Raining heavily at times. Colonel Martyn came. He said he was going to oppose my being sent to Eastchurch. I don't much mind what happens really for I believe I can make a show of this squadron in time. I would rather like to make a success of it. Still I am quite ready to do what I'm told.
Cable from darling Mother & Father wishing me a happy birthday tomorrow.
