Thursday 4 July [1918]
Up at 9. Awful breakfast at the mess! To Oxford by the 11.40 train. Met old Hancock in the street. To Group & met Minchin & had lunch with him & Mrs. M. In afternoon got a punt and took "Girlie" out & gave her a swim. Read Bishop's book "Winged Warfare". Back to Witney by the 6.25 p.m. Dinner at Central Hotel. Up to Hut to write letters & to bed.
