Friday 20 December [1918]
Up at 10. Very weary. Did various office jobs in the morning. Packed & had lunch. Caught the 2.12 to Paddington & the 4.15 from there to Ealing. Taxi to 10 Amherst Avenue & found Austin had just arrived – splendid luck! Mary & I rushed off to town after tea. I went by tube to the Post Office to catch the Sydney mail & then met Mary at Selfridges. Bus to Paddington & caught the 7.5 home. Yarned & read after dinner.
