Saturday 16 March [1918]
Up at 10. No job today for me. Claye & I flew over to see Major Henderson & had lunch with him. Great to see him again. Flew back about 4 p.m. & had a good look at the old Somme battlefield on the way. Did some firing before landing. After tea cleaned my gun. Strolled down the village after dinner & had a drink at the local estaminet with the C.O. and Gibbons. Got a stray packet from Mother enclosing a St. Joseph's cord & a medal from Dolly Gilhooley. Awfully kind of her to think of me.
Packet from Mother
Box of chocolates from Mrs. Vidal.
