Saturday 27 July [1918]
Up at 9. Went down to Port Meadow with the Colonel. Flew to Witney in the Bristol. Very dull & stormy. Rather peeved with the Port Meadow people about the way they have messed up my Bristol. Tested Burrowes & then flew back to Port Meadow. Lunch at the Wing. Back to Port Meadow with the Colonel. Flew the Avro to Witney. Tested Burrowes, Ormistoun, & Ormerod. More trouble with the engine but managed to get back by 7 p.m. After dinner went down to Confession. Back to Wing & yarned till 12. Yet another splendid supply of cake, sweets & butter from home – it is grand.
