Saturday 6 July [1918]
Up at 6.30 & did some dual. Flew over to Burford with Horsborough, where Clarke, Moore, Barnett joined us in a most excellent breakfast at the Bull Inn. Clemence arrived with a message that we were wanted so back we went to report to Major Shield. This station is being made a T.D.S. and Horsborough, Barnett & I are group flight commanders. A most amazing position as I got orders at midday to take over "B" Group (8 T.S.) and Clarke is utterly ignored! Rather an unpleasant situation! Flew a bit in two Bristols. Everything is in the wildest confusion. Dinner at mess & then to the Marlboro & found Clarke & the others. Back to camp & played poker & won about a pound.
