Monday 8 July [1918]
Up at 8. Roll call at 9 – a little better. Toiled all the morning in the office trying to find out where all the pupils are. An awful morning's work! Roll call at 2 p.m. was quite a success – not one unlawful absentee! Toiled on all the afternoon & evening in the office. I am getting a glimpse of daylight now & I think there is hope of pulling things out of the present awful muddle. I have to report at S.E. Area on Wednesday to be interviewed. I wonder what that means?
