Sunday 27 January [1918]
Up at 7. Breakfast & then much strenuous work getting petrol & baggage on board & handing over the camp. Everything ready at 10.30 & the convoy formed up when orders were received cancelling the move! Rather bad luck just when much hard work had everything ready. Down to Base Hq. in car. Then to D.A.D.R.T. [Deputy Assistant Director of Railway Transport] & received orders to move by rail on Monday night – complete with transport. To R.F.C. Port Depot & back to D.A.D.R.T. Back to camp & got men into new camp. Down to Base Hq. with Sutton & Davis. Lunch at the Moderne. Then to Base Hq., the A.P.M. & D.A.D.R.T. & back to camp. Had tea & then back to D.A.D.R.T. Back to camp & had dinner & wrote orders. We have to entrain at midnight tomorrow night!!
