Tuesday 9 April [1918]
Up at 10 in a great hurry as a message came that General Trenchard was coming at 10.30. A very swift breakfast & up to the aerodrome. "Boom" was very pleasant. A hopeless day – thick fog. Arranged to have a "C" type trigger motor on my machine. After lunch changed to football togs & went to play Rugby against 25 Squadron. We beat them 6-0. A very mild game but strenuous enough to emphasise my lack of condition! Tea with 25 & then to our men's baths. Back to billet & dressed. Up to aerodrome & filed down my locks to take the new trigger-motor. Major Duffus, Doyle & another flight-commander came to dinner & we played bridge after.
Letter to Aunty Mary.
