Monday 7 January [1918]
Up at 9. After breakfast by taxi to Bank & drew money. Met Mary at Aspreys in Bond St. at 11 & we had a wild morning shopping. Bought wedding presents from Mother & Father, Eileen & Self & Christmas presents too. To Cox's by taxi & then lunch at the Florence. After lunch Mary went off & I bought more kit etc. etc. Went to Maiden Lane & made a General Confession. Back to the Strand Palace & met the others. Aunty, Bryan, Maurice, Mary, Helen Barlow & Margaret & I had dinner at the Florence & went to see "Yes Uncle". Simply a ripping show! Maurice had to go back to hospital & could not come to the theatre. Saw Margaret home by tube & then back to bed. A splendid day.
