Thursday 28 February [1918]
Up at 8.30. Off at 10.30 with flight in formation. Patrolled Aubers-Lens for 2 hours at 15000 feet. Bitterly cold – the worst yet. Went over the lines. Got a little "archie". Lost the others coming through the clouds but they all got back. Landed at 1.30. A thoroughly dull & unpleasant flight. James, Francis & Allen all have frost bitten faces. Cleaned my gun during the afternoon.
Letter from Aunty Mary.
