Friday 5 July [1918]
Up at 8.30. Had to carry on for the O.C. in the morning so only did a little flying. Went up with Collier in his Avro. Had to be examined by the M.O. after lunch. In evening I did a lot of flying & sent Cheetham solo – quite a good one. Dinner at mess & to bed. Everything is turmoil here now – goodness knows where we'll end! Clarke has been very adversely reported on & in every way there is trouble. I wish they would send me away to a decent job.
