56th Battalion
A.I.F.
4.2.16

Dear Mother

Have not been able to write ere this as I have been to England and back, you know what is to try and write then I had ten clear days on English soil, so I cannot grumble.

We arrived in London at about half past nine;  from Waterloo Station the party marched to the A.I.F. Hd. Qrs. which are in Horseferry Road - there we were paid & left all our kit, also had a nice hot bath and slipped into nice fresh clean clothes.  After I had had some dinner the first place I made for was Maple & Co., it was soon found and made my way up to Uncle Edward's room.
