My dear Mother,

Still alive, well and happy, and hope you are the same; cheer up I am still in Blighty, like Rupe & Rod.  You had better send all letters to Joss in future until further ordes, so you might give it out to all about.

If I get my transfer to Rupes battalion it will mix matters up as far as the mails are concerned; my letters now still go to France to the 56th but they let me have them by return mail, parcels have been returned also, but no papers, for the authorities will not allow papers to be redirected over here, or to hospitals; lately well since I've been in England no papers have come for me, only the few that came c/o Joss.  Tell Dad to still send the views; Joss is going to send them down all that he sent.

Very few places in the small towns and villages have high ceiling they are mostly six feet high, so you see we're made to long.

Some of our fellows have lumps on their heads which they will remember where they got it all their lives. I for one have several.
