Dear Mother,                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    
You must excuse me for not writing ere this, as I have been busy, in fact rushed for time.  It is the first letter since January 4th, but still I have sent you a field postcard to let you know that I am still all here. Sent one to Dad on the 6th, Yvonne on the 14th as well as Rupe on that date. Your last letters from home reached me on the 21st of this month; Yvonne looks nice in the sailor dress in which she had her photograph taken in; by the same mail I had a photograph of Jess Cruickshank, who also looks well.  In my pocket book I have quite a collection of photos' from different friends whom I know.   Auntie Edie wrote to me last mail. While I think of it I wish you "Many Happy Returns" of the day; have just found a card that I made at "Anzac".  You will see by the above address that we are on an old battlefield, where the

Enclosed you will find some silk cigarette cards, which will come in handy.  They are very pretty so will send some more.  R.
