Dear Dad,
I would have written before this, but have had a lot of guard to do. Was on guard in Cairo last week, for the was a bit of a row. Have been in Egypt three weeks now, & you can just see me having a good time. Received your letter, dated June 19th, it must have just missed us at Fremantle. Cairo is a very pretty place and it is not too slow, for it is alive with traffic & soldiers. Soldiers are to be seen everywhere. Saw Charlie Marsden, he is the lines next to me. He has written to you also. Exepcting to see Rod in a few days. A lot of boys from N. Bay over here. Writing to Mum & Gin same mail as this.
