for nearly six hours and still I am alive. My Major lost his batman in it though. He was such a nice fellow, he had been with the Major ever since we left Sydney with the first contingent.  Fritzy & Co put a few big shells over next to our billet last night, he wrecked everything round it - blew the stove to atoms and gave me a bit of a scare, for I thought they knocked our roof off. Madame of the house ran down the cellar as per usual, saying plenty bombard. Well what do you think of me meeting Phelps (kid) also saw Sid Elliot. Remember me to her, dont forget. Have you seen Jack lately? Tell him to scribble a line or two. 

Dad seems just the same as when I left. Would like to be on the twenty past five now, or even the twenty-five to nine.  Had a letter from Nana, also one for Rod from her. Via was asking me to write to her but cannot as I dont know
