Reg Healy and I went to Cairo yesterday where we enjoyed ourselves immensely riding about in cabs etc. We went to the Y.M.C.A. and had our dinner, and a very good dinner it was too, a real Australian dinner, for it was that we went for. After dinner we took a garry to the Giza Zoological Gardens, where we also enjoyed ourselves very much indeed. It is a quaint old place, with its arches, and nice paths made out of small coloured pebbles. In the zoo the first thing our eyes met were a lot of Australian birds, mountain parrots etc, kangaroos, snakes, in fact all kinds of animals. Reg took some snapshots of little lion cubs, we could not take the big cats, leopards, as it was took [too] dull, but we took the giraffe, & hippo. After having afternoon tea and listening to the band of bag pipes, played by little Egyptians, we
