they roam about the town buying freely this, and that & everything; some have very smart tailor made suits and the famous Ausie boots polished
up as good as I used to do mine at home; every one you cast your eyes upon has shiney boots or leggings, hat turned up and looking as contented as could be.
Everyone is allowed out of camp after tea (4 pm) but must be out of town at 9.30; supper is served at 9 to those in camp. A nice Y.M.C.A. is in the camp where one can read, write and play all sorts of games. One thing that strikes you is the songs which you hear while passing the little hotels; the roof is just high enough to permit an ordinary Ausie in and when they get a few stouts inside the [they] will sing till cows come home.
