It must have been great disappointment for Jack Barton to be turned down; Abbey has passed then! Shall look out for both Noel and Abbey. We get plenty of cigarettes from passing  mail steamers, also   chocolates and books. How is Gin as a housekeeper? Rupe will soon be better so not worry about him.  Yes we have a few of those Liverpool rioters who made a bad name for themselves; they should not publish such things.  By all accounts your garden seems to be getting on lovely thanks to (my) your repated efforts; Shall start a garden when I get back again where we will grow vegetables, and I shall use my world wide experience such as the Egyptian scheme for water. We had a very hot day on Saturday, but not half as bad as Tuesday, for it was Anzac Day.  It was celebrated on the canal by the Anzacs who of course were in the mostly 14 and 15 Brigades. Our battalion won 60%  of the prizes which is very good. There was high diving, swimming, obstacle races, greasy poles, pillow fights, tugs of war, Allies boat races, manacle races, and the big event "Anzac" race; shall send you a few programs as souveniers. Well as I have no knews to tell you at all, I shall have to close wishing you the best of wishes and hoping this finds you well & happy.  Kind regards to all from.

Your affectionate Son
Rex
