Dear Dad,
I had a good night last night or should have had after the cakes, and luxuries we all had. No letter has turned up yet, but they are bringing up the letters to night at five, when I will get yours. My throat is getting better now, for I gargle about every two hours, also have it painted with -- (dont know) anyhow I'm nearly better. All the soldiers up here are running from all directions to the W.C. for they get what we all call "Black Draught", & I can tell you that it makes you run, its no use, as they say giving it a start, for as soon as you get it stat make a bee line for the W.C. I seem the only one that goes  who goes just ordinary.

How is Mum & Gin? I will get leave in a couple of days to come and have a look round. The Advance Guard went away this morning, and the rest of the troops will go on Wednesday. Please excuse this writing as it is done in bed you know the rest. Well as the mail is going now I have to close.

Your loving Son I remain
Rex
